Chocolate has always been the Great Equalizer of Emotions. When Mo was tee-tiny, she'd get frustrated by her inability to express her wants and needs and would go into meltdown mode. When this happened, I would run a warm bath with lots of bubbles and sit her in it, still screaming and crying. Then I would get a handful of chocolate chips and put them in a little cup on the side of the tub. I didn't have to say much. Within 10 minutes, the tears subsided to hiccups, the water and chocolate working their magick.
Some days are like this for me, too. Some days I just need my comfort foods. I can hear the critics now: “You should never seek comfort in food! That can lead to all kinds of eating disorders!” OK. I hear you and there is truth in that. But we can't deny that sometimes the best foods in the world are the ones that are familiar. Chocolate is like that for me. That, and my gramma's roast beef. OK, and Indian food. And... you get the picture.
This Collection is my attempt to pin-point some of those original sources of comfort.
